Cause and effects of Paranoid schizophrenia

Paranoid schizophrenia that can result in distorted perception and thinking in an individual is regarded as one of the most damaging kinds of mental illnesses. The patient may imagine hearing and seeing things, or might believe that he is being constantly persecuted or watched, which actually. This however is all imaginary, yet disturbing.

Unlike the popular belief, a paranoid schizophrenia brain does not result in multiple personality disorder. In fact the patient is generally not even violent and is capable of functioning and taking decisions without support.

The paranoid schizophrenia patients might observe long or short remission periods, before relapsing.

Though schizophrenia (paranoid type) is controllable, it requires the usual medication and treatment course, which is required in case of most other diseases.

Thankfully paranoid schizophrenia symptoms do not affect a large population percentage. It is most common among adolescents.

In acute paranoid schizophrenia, delusions may cause the patient to endanger others or even themselves. The paranoid schizophrenic patient, due to anti-psychotic medicine side effects, may show dizziness, abnormal facial expressions, abnormal leg and arm movements and restlessness.

Paranoid schizophrenia onset, that causes social withdrawal, tension, sleeplessness, personality changes or less concentration capability may go unobserved.

However, in the later stages, symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia become more visible as the person begins to act more bizarre. They believe in others being able to read their thoughts and believe in their having the power to manage their actions. Hallucinations are common too. They may also imagine sensing, seeing, and smelling things.

The patient may become withdrawn from the rest of the society and surroundings, and might show lack of emotion and motivation. They might even get obsessed with things, or might bear symptoms of disordered thinking, saying things that have no meaning at all.

Though the exact paranoid schizophrenia causes are still unknown, researchers suggest that a person is highly capable of developing the diseases if he/she comes from a paranoid schizophrenia family, and this has it in their genes. Also, if one twin develops the symptoms, the other needs to be especially beware too. Chemical changes, during puberty can be a factor too, and the one may develop the disease around this point of time in life.

Other causes of paranoid schizophrenia could be viral infections, excessive stress or other external causes.

The treatment for paranoid schizophrenia unusually mixes a number of therapies, developed according to one’s individual needs. For instance an anti-psychotic medication treatment may reduce disordered thinking and hallucination symptoms (though it cannot do much to help one against the socially withdrawn behavioral pattern). The medication must be taken properly, a failure of which, even at the time of remission can cause relapse.

A paranoid schizophrenia treatment option known as psychotherapy, addresses social and emotional issues. Group therapy encourages scope for socialization among patients suffering from the same paranoid schizophrenia symptoms.

If you believe you know somebody who could be suffering form paranoid schizophrenia, take up the cause immediately and help them get paranoid schizophrenia medication without delay.
